Gun Control – Learning from History

An armed attacker would be discouraged from opening fire if he knew he would face resistance – and that’s why very few mass shootings happen in Texas – most people in Texas are carrying a firearm. In fact last year in Texas there was a crazy person that walked into a church and opened fire but he was quickly shot and killed by a man carrying a gun.

Consider this –
Switzerland – Swiss male citizens are obliged to attend Basic Firearms Training (recruit school, as they say in Switzerland) where they get their personal equipment including assault rifle SIG P550 (in some cases a Pistol model SIG P20) Every soldier can take his personal weapon home with him. That helps give Switzerland the lowest rate of gun crime out of any civilized country in the world!

I think we can either look at history and learn from it and do things better or we can look at history and ignore it and repeat the same patterns.

What happens when a government disarms the population?

Turkey – Turkey established gun control in 1911 then from 1915 to 1970 one million Armenians unable to defend themselves we’re rounded up and exterminated.

The Soviet Union in the 1920’s established gun control. From 1923 to 1953 about 20 million dissidents unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935 – Estimates for the number of deaths range from a lower estimate of 200,000 to 800,000 and higher estimates of 2 million to 5 million executions for the years 1949–1953 along with 1.5 million to 6 million sent to “reform through labor” (Laogai) camps, where many perished. Zhou Enlai estimated 830,000 had been killed, while Mao Zedong estimated as many as 2 to 3 million were killed. Deng Zihui, Vice Chairman of the Central South Military and Administrative Council, estimated that 15% of China’s 50,000,000 landlords and rich peasants had been “sentenced to death”, 25% had been “sent to labor reform camps for remolding through manual work” and 60% to “participation in production work under supervision”.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964 and from 1964 to 1981 one hundred thousand Mayan Indians unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970 then from 1971 to 1979 three hundred thousand Christians unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

56 million people have been rounded up and exterminated in the 20th century because of gun control.

History has taught us that when a government takes away it’s people’s guns – catastrophe follows.

It is essential for America to protect the 2nd Amendment.
