Trump’s Bond was Higher than Sam Bankman-Fried and Bernie Madoff’s Combined
Here we take a look at the $454,000,000 bond that was being required of Trump compared to the bond amounts that were set for criminals that were guilty of the largest financial crimes in U.S history.
Bernie Madoff – the infamous financier, was at the center of one of the most notorious Ponzi schemes in history.
In 2008, Bernie Madoff was arrested on a criminal complaint alleging securities fraud. He had orchestrated a massive $50 billion Ponzi scheme.
His bail was set at $10 million. The amount was secured by various family homes held in his wife’s name.
Ultimately, Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in federal prison, where he passed away in April 2021 at the age of 82.

Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) – the former crypto mogul and founder of FTX, was involved in a massive financial scandal. Bankman-Fried’s bond was set at $250 million bond after appearing in Manhattan federal court.
Federal prosecutors revealed that SBF used money he stole from customers of his FTX cryptocurrency exchange to make more than $100 million in political campaign contributions before the 2022 U.S. midterm elections.
Charges and Indictment:
- SBF faces seven counts of conspiracy and fraud related to FTX’s collapse.
- the indictment also accuses him of conducting an illegal campaign finance scheme as part of the broader fraud and money laundering allegation.
Stolen Funds were given to Democrats:
- Bankman-Fried contributed more than $70 million to election campaigns in less than 18 months.
- His contributions were primarily directed toward Democrats and liberal-leaning groups. Notably, he personally gave at least $40 million to politicians and political action committees ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. This substantial support made him the second overall top donor to Democrats, trailing only behind billionaire philanthropist George Soros.
