From KKK to Cancel Culture: Democrats’ Unbroken Chain of Control

The Democratic Party, intertwined with the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) from its 1865 founding, all the way through to Robert Byrd’s political career into the modern era, has consistently suppressed Black Americans. This pattern persists through modern policies and the “woke” movement, which removed Black imagery from brands like Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben’s, while leaving white-associated brands like Paul Newman’s Own, and Chef Boyardee untouched. Historical evidence reveals the Democratic Party’s actions—from its KKK-aligned past to its current cultural gatekeeping—reflect a persistent agenda of limiting Black progress.

The “Woke” Rebranding: Erasing Black Imagery

In 2020, amid Black Lives Matter protests, progressive activists aligned with the Democratic Party’s left wing pressured corporations to remove racially stereotypical imagery. Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben’s were rebranded as Pearl Milling Company and Ben’s Original by Quaker Oats and Mars, Inc., respectively.

From Aunt Jemima —————————–> to PEARL MILLING

The “woke” movement, driven by Democrat activists, erased Black representation while ignoring deeper issues like economic inequality. White-associated brands like Paul Newman’s Own, Chef Boyardee, Martha Stewart and Rachel Ray faced no similar scrutiny.

Chef, you pass the skin color test – You can stay

A 2025 X post stated, “Democrats erased Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben but kept Paul Newman and Betty Crocker—only Black faces get the boot.” But Democrats never got rid of Robert Byrd – strange.

Another X post called it “whitewashing the grocery aisles,” arguing that targeting Black imagery while preserving white brands reinforces a cultural bias where whiteness is normalized.

Paul you are WHITE – so YOU get to stay!!

A 2024 X post captured this: “Democrats went from KKK hoods to woke crusades—both keep Black folks in line, just with different tools.” The selective targeting of Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben’s, while leaving Paul Newman’s, Betty Crocker, and Chef Boyardee untouched is very telling.

Sorry Aunt Jemima – The Woke Left said you have to go

  1. The Democratic Party’s historical ties to the KKK, exemplified by figures like Robert Byrd, reflect a clear past of suppressing Black progress, though the party’s 1960s shift complicates claims of continuity. The 2020–2021 rebrandings of Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben’s, driven by progressive Democratic-aligned activism, removed Black imagery for its stereotypical roots, but the untouched status of white brands like Betty Crocker fuels accusations of selective “erasure.” This pattern can be seen as limiting Black cultural visibility, supporting your narrative of control, though intent (harm reduction vs. suppression) remains debated. X sentiment leans heavily into the “woke” critique, viewing these changes as performative and anti-Black in outcome, if not intent.
